Explore & Educate

Explore our 84-acre site and discover a wide range of animals, including sheep, cows, goats, pigs, deer, llamas, alpacas and even our albino wallabies.

Learn more about our animals, including several rare breeds during a guided tour led by a member of the Monk Park Farm team, who will accompany your class around the farm, answer questions and share their knowledge along the way.

There’s nothing quite like getting up close to animals to support learning, and our new animal barn provides a safe, supervised environment for hands-on experiences. During your visit, your class will be able to meet and hold guinea pigs, baby chicks and rabbits, and may also see baby lambs, goats, llamas and pigs. (Sessions and animals may vary depending on the season, schedule and animal welfare.)

At certain times of year, visits may also include bottle-feeding sessions with lambs and kidspig racing demonstrations, and pig snuggling sessions, giving pupils a fun and engaging way to learn more about animal behaviour and welfare. All animal encounters follow our strict animal welfare and health & safety policies.

School visits also include:

  • A dedicated picnic space reserved for your group, suitable for lunch, talks and activities
  • A guided farm tour with a member of the Monk Park Farm team
  • Hands-on animal experiences in the petting barn
  • Animal food for feeding sessions
  • Barrel rides (weather dependent)
  • Well-maintained paths and a wheelchair-friendly feeding station
  • An enhanced woodland walk alongside Balk Beck (limited accessibility while improvement works continue)

Our guided school visits are designed to be informative, interactive and memorable, giving children the opportunity to learn about farming, animals and the countryside in a hands-on way.

Time to Play

If you’d like to include some playtime as part of your visit, there’s plenty on offer to keep children active and entertained:

  • Mini train ride
  • Air bouncers
  • Large outdoor play and picnic area, including a spacious sandpit and ride-on toys
  • A smaller play area with zip wire, play fort and swings
  • Barrel ride through the deer and llama park

Food

Schools are welcome to bring their own packed lunches. These can be enjoyed in our designated picnic areas or in an indoor space, which includes ample seating.

An ice cream kiosk is also available on site (additional charges apply).

Please note:

  • The farm and café are closed to the public Tuesday to Thursday
  • The farm is open to the public on Mondays and Fridays.
Please speak to us about your requirements when booking so we can help plan your visit

“I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you and your wonderful staff for an absolutely fabulous day. We had the best school trip at Monk Park Farm! It was so well organised and it was really impressive to see how many improvements you have made. There was so much to do and the children absolutely loved every minute! The pig racing was a big hit! Thank you so much”
