School Visits to Explore & Educate

Monk Park Farm offers both guided and unguided school visits, giving you the flexibility to choose the experience that best suits your group.

Guided Visits

(Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays)

Our guided visits allow you to explore our 84-acre site while learning from a member of the Monk Park Farm team.

Discover a wide range of animals, including sheep, cows, goats, pigs, llamas, alpacas and even our albino wallabies. Your guide will accompany your class around the farm, sharing fascinating facts, answering questions and bringing the learning experience to life.

There’s nothing quite like getting up close to animals to support learning, and our animal barn provides a safe, supervised environment for hands-on experiences. During your visit, pupils will have the opportunity to meet and hold guinea pigs, rabbits and baby chicks, and may also see baby lambs, goats, llamas and pigs. (Animals and sessions vary depending on the season and animal welfare.)

At certain times of the year, guided visits may also include bottle-feeding sessions with lambs and kids, pig snuggling, pig racing demonstrations and other seasonal activities, all delivered in line with our animal welfare and health & safety policies.

Guided visits include:

  • Guided farm tour with a member of the Monk Park Farm team
  • Hands-on animal experiences in the petting barn
  • Animal food for feeding sessions
  • Barrel ride (weather permitting)
  • Dedicated picnic area for your group
  • Wheelchair-friendly feeding station
  • Woodland walk alongside Balk Beck (limited accessibility while improvement works continue)

Unguided Visits

(Mondays & Fridays)

Our unguided visits are perfect for groups who would prefer to explore the farm at their own pace.

You’ll have access to the farm throughout your visit, with the freedom to discover our animals, woodland walk, play areas and attractions independently. As the farm is open to the public on these days, your group will enjoy the farm alongside other visitors and is welcome to join in with any scheduled daily activities and animal sessions taking place. It’s a great option for nurseries, schools and organised groups looking for a relaxed, self-led visit.

Unguided visits include:

  • Full access to the farm during your visit
  • Animal food for feeding sessions
  • Barrel ride (weather permitting)
  • Dedicated picnic area for your group
  • Woodland walk
  • All outdoor play areas
  • Mini train ride (when operating)

Exclusive Farm Hire

Looking for something even more special? We also offer exclusive hire of Monk Park Farm, giving your school sole use of the farm for the day.

Perfect for larger schools and organisations, exclusive hire allows your pupils to explore the farm in a private setting, without members of the public or other school groups on site. Available Tuesday to Thursday during term time, this option is ideal for schools with 100+ pupils, or those wishing to bring their entire school for an unforgettable day out. We can tailor the day to suit your school’s requirements, creating a memorable and engaging educational experience.

Exclusive farm hire includes:

  • Sole use of Monk Park Farm
  • A flexible itinerary tailored to your school
  • Access to all farm attractions and play areas
  • Dedicated picnic facilities
  • Animal food for feeding sessions
  • Barrel ride (weather permitting)
  • A guided or self-led visit, depending on your requirements

Exclusive hire is available from £850 + VAT per day.

Advance booking is essential and dates are subject to availability.

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements, we’d be happy to help you plan your visit and create a package that works for your school.

Time to Play

Whether you choose a guided or unguided visit, there’s plenty to keep children active and entertained:

  • Mini train ride
  • Air bouncers
  • Large outdoor play and picnic area, including a spacious sandpit and ride-on toys
  • Smaller play area with zip wire, play fort and swings
  • Barrel ride (weather permitting)

Food

Schools are welcome to bring their own packed lunches, which can be enjoyed in our designated picnic areas or indoor seating area.

An ice cream kiosk is also available on site (additional charges apply, must be pre booked in advance).

Please note

  • Guided school visits and exclusive hire: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays (term time)
  • Unguided school visits: Mondays & Fridays (term time)
  • Advance booking is required for all school and group visits.
  • The farm and café are closed to the public Tuesday to Thursday, providing an exclusive environment for guided school visits.
  • The farm is open to the public on Mondays and Fridays, when unguided school visits take place alongside our general visitors.
  • A full site Risk Assessment, Public Liability Insurance certificate, and any other supporting documentation required for your visit will be provided once your booking is confirmed.
  • Please speak to us about your requirements when booking so we can help plan your visit.

School Holiday Visits

During the school holidays, we are unable to offer guided school trips or structured educational sessions due to the high visitor numbers on the farm. However, after-school clubs and holiday clubs are very welcome to visit on a self-led basis.

We offer a group admission rate of £10 per person for groups of 30 or more, which includes animal feed for each visitor. Visits are unguided, with no dedicated farmer talks, and groups will enjoy the farm and activities alongside other members of the public.

Barrel ride tickets can also be purchased in advance at a discounted group rate, allowing everyone in your group to enjoy the experience during their visit.

If you’d like to enquire about availability or make a booking, please get in touch with our team.
