Shetland Ponies
The Shetland Pony is a small but incredibly strong breed native to the Shetland Isles in Scotland. Adapted to the harsh weather and rugged terrain of the islands, they have a thick double coat, short legs, and a sturdy build. Despite their small size, they are powerful and were traditionally used for pulling carts, carrying peat and coal, and even ploughing land.
During the Industrial Revolution, Shetland Ponies were commonly used as pit ponies in coal mines across Britain and the eastern United States, where they worked underground hauling heavy loads. Known for their intelligence and sometimes cheeky nature, Shetlands are popular today as children’s ponies and in driving classes.
Dartmoor Ponies
Dartmoor Ponies originate from the Dartmoor region of Devon, England, and are one of the oldest native British breeds. Bred to survive on the exposed moorland, they are hardy, sure-footed, and have a calm, gentle nature.
They are slightly larger than Shetlands and known for their smooth movement and good manners, making them excellent riding ponies for children. Historically, they were used for light agricultural work, pack duties, and riding. Dartmoor Ponies remain a protected breed, with conservation herds still roaming the moors today.

Meet Our Ponies
Swan – Dartmoor Pony
Also known as Miss Poppy Swan the Diva, this rare breed beauty is all about the spotlight. She loves being the centre of attention and floats around the field like she’s in the show ring, probably because she has won a few rosettes in her time!

Stanley – Shetland Pony
Our little rocking horse lookalike! Stanley is a curious rescue with a big heart. He’s always eager to learn and even picks out his own grooming brush (he knows what he likes!). Gentle and sweet, he loves muzzle kisses and follows Swan around like a cheeky little brother – much to her dismay!

🚫 Please don’t feed the ponies – they’re on carefully managed diets to keep them healthy and happy!
