Donkeys are hoofed mammals from the same family as horses and have been used as hardworking companions for over 7,000 years. Loyal, gentle, and full of character, they’re known for forming strong bonds with both people and other animals.
Here at the farm, we’re lucky to have three lovely donkeys who love attention and a good scratch behind the ears!

Tabitha
Tabitha is the definition of a cuddle bug, she adores head hugs and would happily stand all day being pampered by little hands. If you stop too soon, she’ll gently nudge you for more. She’s even been known to doze off mid-groom, completely blissed out in the love and attention.

Luna
A gentle little soul with a shy streak, Luna is happiest with her bestie Tabitha by her side. She’s a rescue with a big appetite (and no, she’s not expecting!). Loves having her ears rubbed and keeping cheeky Bertie in line when he pushes his luck.

Bertie Biscuit
The toddler of the bunch, full of beans, full of character, and definitely still sporting invisible L-plates! Bertie doesn’t miss a thing and always wants to be involved. His expressive eyes say it all, if only we could understand his constant chatter! Loves a bum scratch and being the centre of attention.

Donkey Facts
- A male donkey is called a Jack, a female is a Jenny, and a young donkey is known as a Foal.
- A Jenny is usually pregnant for 11 to 14 months and will give birth to just one foal at a time.
- Donkeys mainly eat grass, but during the winter months when grazing is limited, they get extra hay and feed to keep them healthy.
