Meet Our Highland Cattle 🐮 Beautiful, gentle, and full of character!

Highland cattle originated in the Scottish Highlands and the Outer Hebrides.

They’re easy to recognise thanks to their long, shaggy double-coat and iconic fringe (or “dossan”), which helps protect their eyes from harsh weather and pesky insects.

Their thick coat keeps them warm in all conditions, and their strong curved horns are used to rake away snow so they can forage for food in winter.

Their diet includes grass, hay, and in colder months, fodder beet.

These gorgeous cows are known for their friendly and docile nature – they often wander over for a bit of attention!

🧡 Did you know you can now feed our Highland cows here at Monk Park Farm? 🧡

Agnes and Flora have recently moved into the Petting Barn, and they’re loving all the fuss and tasty snacks! 🥕

Come and say hello, give them a gentle stroke, and treat them to a bite to eat – they’ll definitely be pleased to see you! 🤎
