The alpaca is a South American camelid mammal. They are similar and often confused with the Llama.
Alpacas are smaller than Llamas, but they are related and can successfully crossbreed.
Alpacas make a variety of sounds including humming (when curious, happy, worried or cautious), snorting, grumbling, clucking (similar to a hen’s cluck), screaming (usually when being attacked by a potential enemy), and screeching. Can you hear any of these sounds?
Alpacas mainly eat pasture grass and hay.
There are around 25,000 Alpacas in the UK, we have about six here at Monk Park Farm.

Alpaca Facts
Not all alpacas spit, but all are capable of doing so, and they can spit up to three metres. Spitting is mostly reserved for other alpacas, but an alpaca will occasionally spit at a human.
